Summer 2026 Schedule

Cohort starts the week of June 22 or June 29

There is one cohort with one shared start date. I will confirm whether classes begin June 22 or June 29 after enrollment closes, based on when the majority of signed-up students' summer breaks begin.

Weekly Class Times (all times Eastern)

Day Python for Beginners AI & Machine Learning
Tuesday10:00 – 11:30 AM ET12:30 – 2:00 PM ET
Thursday10:00 – 11:30 AM ET12:30 – 2:00 PM ET

Students enrolled in both courses get a one-hour break between sessions — plenty of time to take a walk, have lunch, and recharge.

No classes July 27 – 31

A planned mid-summer break is built into the schedule. No makeup is needed — this is accounted for in the 12-session course plan.

Make-up class policy

I am a high schooler who takes my teaching commitments seriously. In the rare and unforeseen event I am not able to lead a session, I will arrange a make-up class at a time that works for everyone in the cohort. Parents will be notified via email as early as possible.

What Your Child Needs

Computer or laptop

A Mac, Windows, or Chromebook with a working webcam. Tablets are not recommended — class activities require a keyboard.

Stable internet connection

A reliable broadband connection for video and screen-sharing. A wired connection is better than Wi-Fi if possible.

Zoom installed

Download the free Zoom app before the first session. We'll send a join link to your email once enrollment is confirmed.

Google account

Google Classroom is used to share assignments, resources, and project files. Students must have a personal Google account.

Camera and microphone on

Camera must be on for all sessions. This is a collaborative class — being present and visible helps everyone learn together.

A quiet, distraction-free space

Please join from a calm environment with minimal background noise, out of respect for fellow students and the instructor.

No software installation required

Both courses use free, browser-based tools. Students don't need to install Python, an IDE, or any paid software. All you need is Zoom and a Google account.

Frequently Asked Questions

When exactly does the cohort start — June 22 or June 29?

There is one cohort with a single start date. I will confirm whether it begins the week of June 22 or June 29 after enrollment closes, based on when the majority of signed-up students' summer breaks begin. All enrolled families will be notified together.

Do students need any prior coding experience?

None at all. Both courses are built from the ground up for absolute beginners. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.

What software does my child need to install?

For Python for Beginners, students will use a free browser-based code editor — no installation needed. For AI & Machine Learning, everything runs in the browser (Google's Teachable Machine, ML for Kids + Scratch). Zoom is required for all sessions.

What if my child misses a session?

Please let me know in advance if possible. Missed sessions are not automatically rescheduled, but I will be able to share any resources covered so the student can stay on track.

What happens during the break week (July 27–31)?

There are no scheduled classes that week. It's a planned rest week built into the course calendar — no makeup is needed.

Will sessions be recorded?

Sessions are not routinely recorded to protect student privacy. Resources and notes for each class are shared via Google Classroom.

Is there homework?

Light optional practice is posted on Google Classroom after each session — things like remixing the day's project or exploring a concept further. There is no required homework; the goal is to keep learning fun.

Can my child take both courses at the same time?

Yes! Both courses run the same days with a midday break. Python runs 10:00–11:30 AM and AI runs 12:30–2:00 PM, so students can attend both without overlap and still enjoy their afternoon.

What grade levels are accepted?

The courses are designed for students currently in or entering grades 6–8 (ages roughly 11–14). Students outside this range may be considered — reach out via the enrollment form.

What is the makeup class policy?

I am a high schooler who takes my teaching commitments seriously. In the rare event I am unable to lead a session for an unforeseen reason, I will schedule a makeup session at a time that works for everyone in the cohort.

How many students are in each class?

Each cohort is capped at 8 students to ensure everyone gets direct attention and a chance to share their work.

How much do the courses cost?

Each course is $100. Sign up for both courses together for $150 (saving $50). East Lyme students get an additional $25 off one course or $50 off both — just mention your school in the sign-up form. Sign up before June 5th for an additional $25 early bird discount. No payment is collected upfront — once I confirm your spot, a $20 reservation deposit is due to hold the seat, and the remaining balance is due before the first class.

What if I can't afford the course fee?

My goal is to get coding and AI knowledge into as many hands as possible — I never want money to be the reason someone misses out. I charge to cover my costs, but if finances are a barrier right now, just sign up and let me know in the "anything else" field. I review every submission personally and we'll figure something out.

Ready to reserve a spot?

No payment required now. I will follow up within 2 business days to confirm enrollment and session details.
